The Sami are recognized as one of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, with their own distinct language and culture. They maintain ancient traditions such as joik (sami song), handicrafts, reindeer husbandry and storytelling. It’s easy to be fascinated by the Sami’s proud history and mythology. This evening you will be hosted by local Sami Reindeer herders who will show and teach you about Reindeer herding and Sami culture. You get to enjoy a reindeer sledding ride, feed these magnificent animals and experience the joy of being close to the reindeer. After spending time in the crisp winter cold, relish the comfort of coming into a warm lavvu (Sami tent) and gamme (Sami Wooden Hut), the smells and tastes of traditional Sami food (three courses) and the sounds of the traditional joik. If luck is on your side, you may see the northern lights dance across the clear arctic winter sky.

You will enjoy the latest and the most exclusive yacht in the city and highly skilled and certified skippers. The skipper is available during the entire tour, sharing stories and local history while cruising. On your way back to Tromsø you will be served local fish soup on board.

In the old days, dog sledding was an important means of transport to carry goods between the settlements. In modern times, it has become a sport and lifestyle for many locals, as well as a popular activity for visitors.

The Alaskan husky is the most common sled dog and is a fast and good-natured dog created for northern Norwegian conditions. On this adventure, you will be dogsledding in a thrilling ride along tree-lined trails and through open terrain, while overlooking the majestic mountains and fjord of the Lyngen Alps. A briefing on how to handle the sled will be given before the trip. It’s not that hard, as the dogs are eager to run and follow the team in front of them. During the ride, you will be the musher and a part of a team together with your dogs. After the adventure, we head inside to warm up by the fireplace and get a traditional lunch meal of moose or reindeer stew and hot drinks. We will tell you the story about the Moose, the Alaska Huskies and the daily life of our 4-legged friends.
